We are pleased to present our Sustainability Report 2024 at a time of rapid change in Victoria’s energy landscape.

It is also comes at a time of change in the sustainability reporting space, with new mandatory reporting requirements introduced under Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards being launched.

 

About the Sustainability Report

Our annual Sustainability Report outlines material Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks and opportunities, our actions to address them, and our performance against the focus areas, priorities and targets committed to in our Sustainability Framework 2022-2026.

We understand that expectations for our networks and the essential services we provide are changing rapidly, so each, year we also review the issues that are of highest relevance and significance to both our stakeholders and our business.

The Victorian Power Networks Sustainability Report 2024 reports on all operations in our control for the calendar year 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024.

 

2024 highlights

2024 has been a year of significant achievement. We are proud to report important progress towards our Sustainability Framework 2022-26 targets including:

  • reducing our environmental footprint
  • making our workplaces more inclusive
  • improving the reliability and safety of our networks.

As we deliver an essential service that our customers rely on, our team is working tirelessly to prepare for a future that is very different to today.

While there is always more to do, these achievements affirm the value of the actions we have undertaken through our Sustainability Framework 2022-26.

In 2024, we achieved our 2030 carbon emissions target and set our 2050 Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 target; had zero fatalities and zero critical network cyber breaches; exceeded our females in management target; launched our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan; participation in energy literacy programs increased 316%; had an 83% employee satisfaction with health and wellbeing programs; invested $28.2 million in technology; and outperformed targets for time off supply.
