Record crowds turn out for Powercor Country Festival

16 May 2017

The Powercor Country Festival came back to the 'G this year bigger and better than ever with a record turn out of 57,000 at the Round 8 match Essendon v Geelong Cats.

The festival in the Yarra Park precinct kicked off at 2.30pm with farm animals, camel rides, market stalls, CFA and Powercor trucks, a ute muster and live music by country music stars Shannan Noll, Sara Storer and Lee Kernaghan.

The special pre-match ceremony paid tribute to volunteering organisations in regional Victoria before our Powercor Game Changer, Nicci Wall, tossed the coin to start the match which saw Essendon take out the Cats.

Here are some snaps from the event.
